Claiming unmatched efficiency, Swedish company Candela announced its new Candela C-8 Center Console, offering speed, range and energy efficiency, all for the cost of less than $10 for a full battery charge.
Powered by a 100-hp pod motor, the C-8’s speed, stability and efficiency come from its computer-guided retractable hydrofoils, which allow the boat to use 80% less energy than conventional vee hulls, and propel the boat 57 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 22 knots — three times longer than other electric boats on the market.
In addition, the Candela C-8 is nearly silent once foil-borne, and offers great stability with the integrated Flight controller, which adjusts the hydrofoils electronically.
“Flying smoothly across the sea, conversing with your passengers at a normal tone of voice, and then arriving at your destination having spent only a few euros worth of electricity getting there — that’s a better boating experience,” says Gustav Hasselskog, founder and CEO of Candela.
Its efficiency is matched by its onboard comfort. The C-8 features an open bow with seating, a wetbar, enclosed head, sunbed, extended swimming platform with shower, generous seating, a six-speaker stereo system and angler features like rod holders and a depth sounder.
“It’s really the best fishing machine at low speeds. With foils down, it doesn’t drift and is incredibly stable. Our Candela C-POD motor is like a high-power outdrive combined with a slow-speed trolling motor in one unit,” adds Hasselskog.
Made from 100% carbon fiber, the C-8 CC includes a 15.4-inch navigational screen and free over-the-air updates of the User Interface and Flight controller to allow for new features over the boat’s lifetime. First deliveries are slated for summer 2024.
