July 15 – 17 celebrate all things Southwest Michigan during Love Local Weekend, featuring extended shopping hours, featured menu items, area specials and all kinds of fun activities and events throughout Southwest Michigan.
“Love Local Weekends are jam-packed with summer fun,” says Amy Zapal, executive director for St. Joseph Today. “It’s amazing to see both long-time residents and visitors take part in all the festivities and specials. Love Local is the perfect way to celebrate the summer season. There are breweries, concerts, vineyards, beaches, the Whirlpool Compass Fountain, local businesses, and the breathtaking lighthouse and piers – there’s something for everyone in Southwest Michigan.”
The event will kick off on July 15 with the Mike Yore Memorial Car Show from 4 – 8pm cruising along Lake Boulevard in St. Joseph, followed by the Friday Night Concert Series from 7 – 8pm featuring Lake Effect Jazz Big Band. Saturday, race to benefit the YMCA of Greater Michiana at the Race for YMCA 5K/10K at the Margaret B. Upton Arboretum.
Lake Bluff Park in St. Joe will host the St. Joe Farmers Market and Lake Bluff Artisan Fair on Saturday, July 16, and the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra will be performing “My Favorite Things” at the Silver Beach Shadowland Pavilion. The jam-packed weekend will wrap up on July 17 with a free Municipal Band jazz concert. All weekend long, those 21 and over are invited to enjoy summer fun at the Downtown District.
