Around the country, harbormasters help keep our harbors and ports safe and functioning, but these vital public servants often go unrecognized. Harbormaster Appreciation Day is an opportunity to celebrate these individuals in communities across the country, and this year marks its third anniversary.

On October 8, join US Harbors and communities across the country in celebrating your local harbormaster. Communities are encouraged to organize local events to show appreciation for their harbormaster, and US Harbors will be hosting a live, online event featuring interesting harbormasters from around the country.

This year’s theme is “What it Takes to Become a Harbormaster,” and the event is sponsored by US Harbors, which will be giving away prizes in the week leading up to the event on its website and social channels, as well as sharing tips for how to celebrate safely. Winners will receive a prize for themselves and one for their harbormaster.

In 2020, over 100,000 people participated in the fun event, and this year promises to be another exciting opportunity to thank our harbormasters.
