CenterPointe Yacht Services LLC recently finalized its acquisition of Great Lakes Yacht Services (GLYS). Both entities are located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

The GLYS acquisition makes CenterPointe the largest service yard in northeast Wisconsin. The purchase includes 4 acres of waterfront land with more than 800 feet of dock wall, a 70-ton Marine Travelift and 110,000 square feet of buildings housing six dedicated shops. The combined operations consist of more than 100,000 square feet of indoor boat storage and a dedicated 15,0000-square-foot new and brokerage showroom.

“We’ve been on a path of steady growth over the past three years,” says Peter Moede, principal at CenterPointe. “Our goal is to deliver the best single-source boating experience on the western shore of Lake Michigan.”

In order to help manage and run the combined operation, CenterPointe recently hired Thomas “Scott” Strang as the facility’s general manager.

Strang, an experienced yacht industry professional, was most recently a part of the management team at Southport Marina in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Prior to joining Southport, he served as the sales and general manager for Harborside Yacht Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Strang is an accomplished sailor, licensed captain, boatbuilder and a past member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects.
