It’s always evident when a salesperson really loves a boat model, as opposed to when it is just another product they need to move off the lot.

And in the case of the Cobalt A 29 and Mark Matson, sales manager at the Sister Bay-Door County location for The Boat House in Wisconsin, the genuine affection was abundantly clear.

“This is the kind of boat I’d love to put my family on a cloudless, 80-degree day and shoot up to an island,” he says. “We’d have some lunch, go swimming, and use the Lilypad to full advantage before cruising home with the wind in our hair at 38 miles per hour.”

You may now be wondering what he meant by a Lilypad. The Lilypad is a proprietary floating sunpad that can inflate out of and then roll back into the A 29. It’s a hit with owners who want to extend their boat’s entertainment space while also cooling off in the water.

But the Lilypad is just one of a number of features that make Cobalt’s A 29 such an enticing choice for family fun on the water. A massive hardtop overhead provides shade for a large percentage of the main deck — always an excellent feature when you need respite from the rays.

Matson also loves the cuddy. “It’s definitely not a cabin,” he says. “But it’s great for a little kid who needs a break, or a nursing mother, or anyone who just needs a small space to recharge or find some privacy.” He also points to the boat’s proprietary hydraulic swim platform as a main draw since this boat is meant to be used by active people who likely will want to go for a swim or two when they are on the hook.

The Cobalt also has a seaworthy and stable hull that Matson says handles the two-to-three footers that he sees often on the lakes with ease. And what’s not to love about that?
