Congresswoman Candice Miller Receives MBIA Award

Congresswoman Candice Miller was recently awarded the MBIA Ray L. Underwood Lifetime Achievement Award for her dedication to Michigan waterways and the recreational boating industry. Miller is in the final year of her seventh term in the U.S. House of Representatives for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District.

Before being elected to Congress, she was Michigan’s secretary of state, Macomb County’s treasurer and Harrison Township supervisor. Miller is a lifelong boater and started working as a young girl at her parent’s marina in Harrison Township.

Some of Miller’s legislative highlights include: Stopping Asian carp and other aquatic invasive species; calling for pipeline safety requirements; assuring ethanol-free fuel is available for boaters; and stopping Ontario Power Generation from depositing nuclear waste along the shores of Lake Huron.
