Professionals, amateurs, students, school groups and more are invited to submit ideas to a contest offered by BoatUS Foundation and Berkley, in partnership with the Recast and Recycle Contest.

Current recycling systems in place for fishing line and soft bait are often ineffective, requiring a labor-intensive process to comb through and separate recyclable materials for other uses. Oftentimes, collected material may never even get used. That’s why the Recast and Recycle Contest is challenging people to come up with new and innovative ways to improve the recycling process and increase the amount of fishing line and soft bait that can be recycled.

Submissions can address one or multiple parts of the process, ranging from improved processing to new recycled product ideas and technological breakthroughs that help the recycling process. The first-place winner will receive $15,000, second place $10,000, and third place $5,000.

Submissions must be received by May 14 as either a video demo of your idea or a one-page graphic summary. So get creative, share your ideas to help protect the environment and win some money in the process!
