Celebrate the christening of the new Schooner Huron Jewel, the newest tall ship of the Great Lakes, on June 23 at the Drummond Island Yacht Haven Marina. The event is hosted by Drummond Island Tall Ship Company, Drummond Island Tourism Association
The day will start at high noon, with the christening of the vessel with a bottle of rum, blow of the conch shell, and fire of the cannon, all with Judge Michael MacDonald presiding. Lee Murdock, balladeer of the Great Lakes, will perform and food from local restaurants will be available. Les Cheneaux Coffee Roasters will also be on hand with fresh cups of the Huron Jewel coffee.
