Floating Water Park Coming to Lake Michigan

By May 9, 2017No Comments

Having fun “out on the water” might take on a whole new meaning this summer. Wibit, a company based in Germany, is currently in talks to bring a floating water park to Lake Michigan. According to the Northwest Indiana Times, the floating water park would be located at Whiting’s Whihala Beach in Indiana.

“We’re moving toward final approvals,” Whiting Mayor Joe Stahura told the Times. “We want to improve the beach and bring more people to the park. We’ve been looking at zip lines and things of that nature.”

According to the company, the inflatable water park would appeal to all ages — from toddlers to adults. It would potentially include slides, tunnels, trampolines, towers, cliffs, halfpipes and other features. Officials say Wibit has agreed to invest $300,000 into the Whiting project.

This won’t be Wibit’s first foray into floating water parks: The company has put similar parks in Europe, South America, Northern Africa, Cuba, Florida and along the Gulf Coast.
