Fourth Annual Blessing of the Fleet Set for Harbor Springs

By June 7, 2016No Comments

Celebrate summer and history at the same time, with the unofficial kickoff to the season, the Fourth Annual Blessing of the Fleet & Summer’s Launch Celebration hosted by the Harbor Springs Area Historical Society. This year, the annual event takes place on Wednesday, June 29.

The party begins at 6 p.m. with the Blessing of the Fleet — essentially a boat parade on the harbor. The Historical Society invites all manner of boaters to participate in the parade, whether you’re rowing a stand-up paddleboard or cruising along on a powerboat. However, you don’t have to be boat-bound to enjoy the Blessing of the Fleet: Landlubbers can watch the parade from the historic waterfront or from city docks. There will also be live music from the Harbor Springs Community Band.

The Summer’s Launch Celebration starts at 7 p.m. at the Boathouse of Harbor Springs. It includes dinner by Vernales, local beer and wines, cocktails, music, dancing and a silent auction. Tickets run at $75 per person or $250 for four.

Proceeds from the event will go towards the Historical Society and their mission to preserve local heritage and the history of Harbor Springs.
