Sporty style with an edge.

by Capt. Tom Serio

The Galeon 445 HTS (Hardtop Sport) comes across as a sporty model, with sharp hull lines and generous curves highlighting the house and structure.

There’s even a retractable sunroof in the hardtop for those days when you want the wind in your hair. Giving the hull a lift are multiple strakes. The go-go is from twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 diesel engines that produce 435 hp each, cranking out a 25-knot cruising speed and 30 knots wide-open.

But the edge may be just how much interior volume this 43-foot hull (49 feet, 2 inches overall) boasts. There’s the salon (or sunroom as Galeon states, thanks to all the large windows) featuring a U-shaped settee with table and wet bar. And then there’s the open aft deck with a C-shaped sofa and table. A retractable glass door and window separate these areas. Forward to starboard is a full helm, complete with double bolstered seating, a Volvo engine display, switches and a Volvo Penta joystick control.

Wide side decks lead to a generous bow lounge area, complete with a protective Bimini shade.

Below is the galley but in an atrium setup, keeping light and air flowing throughout thanks to skylights. A twin burner cooktop, a microwave, a fridge/freezer, countertops and cabinets keep it functional. Relax or dine on yet another U-shaped settee across the way.

Forward is a VIP stateroom with center queen berth, portholes, a skylight and storage. Midship is a full-beam master with center queen berth and an ensuite head with a separate shower stall. A portside sofa, a dresser, opening portholes and carpeted flooring fit out the master.

Make it your own by choosing the interior finishes, from striped or misty grey walnut flooring, to Roman blinds or wooden shutter window treatments, and white or beige color schemes. Matte, walnut cabinetry is available.

Opt for the Comfort Pack, which features most helm electronics, a 32-inch Samsung TV for the salon and a 50-foot Cablemaster; or choose the Luxury Pack, which includes shades, VIP and master stateroom TVs, a hydraulic swim platform and a salon fridge.

The sporty Galeon 445 HTS gives you the edge.
