Great Lake Erie Boat Float

By September 12, 2013No Comments

Who says you can’t turn trash into treasure, then sail off into the sunset? That’s exactly what participants in the Cleveland Museum of Natural History’s 5th annual Great Lake Erie Boat Float did on September 7.

Participants in the Boat Float built plastic boats entirely out of post-consumer recycled materials, then entered them into the competition. The event took place at 10 a.m. at the Cleveland Metroparks Lakefront Reservation’s Edgewater Beach.

Winners were recognized in four categories: Fastest Boat; Best Use of Recyclable Materials; Most Artistic Style; and Li’l Sailors. Afterwards, all boats had the option of being recycled by RES Polyflow using their alternative energy process.
