After a two-year hiatus, cruising on the Great Lakes is back and 2022 is expected to be a record-breaking year with more cruise ships serving more passengers than ever, according to Cruise the Great Lakes, the region’s cruise marketing program focused on bringing economic value and growth to ports and communities.
Nine ships will cruise the Great Lakes this year, visiting port cities large and small such as Cleveland, Ohio; Duluth, Minnesota; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Detroit, Muskegon and Mackinac Island, Michigan; Thunder Bay, Toronto and Niagara Falls, Ontario; and Chicago, Illinois.
Cruise lines include Pearl Seas, American Queen Voyages, St. Lawrence Cruise Lines and Viking Cruises (for the first time), among several others, and the combined voyages are projected to generate an economic impact of over $120 million.
