By December 3, 2015No Comments

After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Jim McManus, the president and CEO of The Hinckley Company, passed away on November 24 at the age of 52.

The Hinckley Company is a boatbuilder based out of Rhode Island that offers sail and motorboats, bareboat and crewed worldwide. McManus joined Hinckley as president and CEO in 2007, after successful stints working in finance and consulting at a few other companies. He was also a graduate of both Yale and Harvard Business School.

During his time at Hinckley, the company developed and launched a series of five new models and acquired Hunt Yachts. McManus also helped the company through the financial crisis in 2008 – 2009. McManus was an avid, lifelong boater, and was heard to say working at The Hinckley Company was his dream job.

A statement released by Hinckley said that “His passion and spark will continue to inspire all who knew him.”

His funeral was held on December 1, and donations to the James P. McManus Scholarship Fund are welcome.
