History Talk Features Mackinac Bridge

By February 7, 2018No Comments

The Harbor Springs Area Historical Society will be hosting a Harbor History Talk on the great Mackinac Bridge. The event will be held on February 22 at 5:30 p.m. and will feature Kim Nowack, the chief engineer for the Mackinac Bridge Authority.

Most people probably know the Mackinac Bridge as the engineering marvel connecting Michigan’s upper and lower peninsulas. Nowack’s presentation, “Mackinac Bridge, Then and Now,” will dive into the history of transportation in the Straits area, the building of the bridge, daily maintenance on the bridge and more. Nowack became the first woman to hold the title of chief engineer for the Mackinac Bridge Authority when she took the position in 2002.

Attendees should head to the second floor of the Harbor Springs History Museum for the talk. Admission is $5 for adults and free for current Historical Society members.
