Holland, Michigan Prescribing “Nature Prescriptions”

By May 30, 2019No Comments

If you live in or around the Holland, Michigan, area you may receive a nature prescription, thanks to the Ottawa County Parks, City of Holland, Outdoor Discovery Center, several local Townships, the Holland Physical Hospital Organization and Park RX America.

The project is spearheaded by Dr. Beth Peter, MD, to get people outside. Science has shown the benefits of spending time outdoors, and Park RX America is using that to help people develop healthy habits. Doctors can use Park RX America’s database to find one of the 80 parks around the Holland area to prescribe patients depending on amenities for pets and other activities. Patients then receive a text reminding them of their prescribed park and can check in once they get there.
