Itching to Get Moving

By February 5, 2025No Comments

We could not have asked for better weather this week compared to the previous week’s cold and rainy temperatures. Waking up to a completely glassy mooring field Monday morning seemed to be a good omen as we entered the week ahead, and what a good omen it was. Not a drop of rain, just a light breeze to keep us cool at night, and productivity at its finest.

Our to-do list is at the forefront of our minds as we plan to officially set off in less than two weeks. After Evan changed the engine oil last week, he also installed a new pencil zinc on the engine heat exchanger, which you can watch in our latest YouTube video here. On top of that, he installed a new carbon monoxide detector in our bedroom and switched all our lights to LED bulbs in an effort to use less battery power. I took full advantage of the marina bikes to run some errands for last-minute supplies, and we plan to do a big provision at Costco this upcoming week.

Ripley has been thoroughly enjoying all the fresh air this past week brought, from sunbathing in the afternoon to soaking in the night stars. She also joined us for a night out on Friday with our friends Josh, Haley, and their dog, Scout. We enjoyed Cajun cuisine at Crawdaddy’s, where Evan ordered frog legs and I ate every single one of my crawfish. We’re beyond proud of Ripley for adjusting to boat life so well, and all the chaos it brings.

On Saturday morning we made a trip up to Marine Connection Liquidators, a warehouse of surplus marine supplies in Fort Pierce, Florida. Here, Evan was able to purchase all the remaining wire needed to complete our solar project at a discounted price. The week ended with Sunday morning muffins and a marina movie night. We will certainly miss all the wonderful marina amenities and conveniences of being in Stuart, but we’re definitely itching to get moving.

Cheers to continuing the adventure!
