John Eric Kammermann Retires from Northwest Marine Yacht Basin

After 34 years as harbormaster at Northwest Marine Yacht Basin and president of Park Avenue Management, John Eric Kammermann has announced his retirement.

Eric has been involved in the marine industry for more than 46 years and has been an ambassador and advocate for Charlevoix, Michigan. He started out in the Coast Guard. Upon discharge, Eric became a licensed captain, carrying vessels up to 100 gross tons. He has numerous hours underway on the all the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway, ICW, and the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.

Kammermann later became VP and general manager of the Beaver Island Navigation Company and general manager of the Beaver Island Boat Company. He also joined U.S. Coastal Development and assisted in the development of Northwest Marine Yacht Basin and Fairport West Yacht Club, both in Charlevoix; Duncan Bay Boat Club in Cheboygan, Michigan; and Prairie Harbor Yacht Club in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.

He plans to spend more time on his boat, Va bene 3, with his wife, Vel, and granddaughters Asha, Nila, Pearl and Violet.
