With a $10,000 investment and a custom beer can, Labatt USA has announced its support for Lake Erie Waterkeeper, aiming to sustain drinkable, fishable and swimmable lake water.
“Increasing public awareness of water stewardship is crucial to preserving, protecting and improving our watersheds,” says Sandy Bihn, the executive director for the Lake Erie Waterkeeper and the Lake Erie Foundation.
Four popular Ohio marine destinations will be featured on the “Loving Ohio” cans, including Put-in-Bay, Edgewater Park, Arch City and Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Retailers selling 24-packs of Labatt Blue or Labatt Blue Light will have the special cans.
“Not only is clean water required to make great beer, but it also means recreation on the water,” says the Labatt family’s brand manager, Lisa Texido.
Labatt USA also partnered with other Great Lakes Waterkeeper organizations, including Michigan’s Grand Traverse Baykeeper and New York’s Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, as part of a larger investment totaling more than $100,000.
