By August 15, 2019No Comments

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) has designated the Lake Erie Islands as the state’s 12th Water Trail.

With five separate sections totaling more than 50 miles around North Bass, Middle Bass and South Bass Islands, Kelleys Islands, Catawba Island and East Harbor State Park, the Lake Erie Islands Trail offers paddlers beaches, cliffs and other natural beauty to explore. About $4,500 worth of signs and brochures are being administered by the ODNR to promote the trail.

“The Lake Erie Islands join a diverse set of trails across Ohio that offer exceptional opportunities for Ohioans to see and explore our state from the water,” says ODNR Director Mary Mertz. “These trails bring communities together, encourage environmental awareness and provide opportunities for people of all ages to be active and get outdoors.”
