One of Canada’s Lake Ontario marinas celebrated its 20th year of business in April. Loyalist Cove in Bath, just west of the St. Lawrence River and Thousand Islands, was started by Dave and Michelle Hinton in 1999. The marina was awarded Boating Ontario Diamond Clean Marine status in 2018 and recently received International Blue Flag status from the Environment Defense.
“We are kind of like a midpoint for many travelers,” Michelle says. “People on their way to Kingston coming from the west end or American side of Lake Ontario don’t have to traverse any long channels or worry about shallow draughts.”
The full-service facility has 80 slips for boats up to 50 feet; storage for 250 boats in the off-season; a 25-ton travel lift; fuel and pumpout; and on-site boat maintenance and repair services. The marina also offers travel services and is an approved Canada Customs Port of Entry check-in.
