Les Cheneaux Islands Boat Show Turns 40

This summer, the Les Cheneaux Islands Antique Wooden Boat Show and Festival of Arts celebrated its 40th anniversary with the theme “Best of 40 Years.” A total of 160 boats were registered in the juried show in 19 different classes. Crowds tallied in at 7,200. In celebration of the show’s longevity, several Best of Show winners from the past 39 years were invited. This included the Breezing Thru, a 1930, 26-foot Hacker-Craft owned by Chuck Letts, Jr. Letts and Ken Horsburgh founded the Les Cheneaux Islands boat festival in 1978 after attending Clayton, New York’s antique boat show.
