In June, the board of directors for the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) contributed $10,000 to the Recreational Boating Industries Educational Foundation (RBIEF) as a matching grant. The RBIEF is a non-profit that provides financial support for the education, training and professional development of people in the recreational marine trades.
Since its start in 1986, the RBIEF has donated more than $350,000 to students and MBIA members for college and continuing education programs. MBIA board chairman Tom Haag says he hopes the $10,000 matching grant will increase awareness about the many available jobs in Michigan’s recreational marine industry.
