Sen. David Robertson and Rep. Andrea LaFontaine (pictured) were presented with the 2014 Mayor’s Cup Award by the Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA). The annual award, started in 1984, recognizes outstanding contributions to the recreational boating industry in Michigan and was presented during the 56th annual Detroit Boat Show back in February.
Robertson and LaFontaine were honored by the MBIA Board of Directors for their leadership in sponsoring the Sales Tax on the Difference (STOD) for boats, which became law in Michigan as of November 2013.
