The Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) will contribute $10,000 to the Recreational Boating Industries Educational Foundation (RBIEF) and will pledge an additional $10,000 as a matching grant to help other donors commit to this educational effort for Michigan’s boating industry.
“We are pleased to support RBIEF as it is a true benefit to our members and addresses a critical industry need,” says MBIA Board Chairman Tom Haag, vice president of Colony Marine in St. Clair Shores. “Our goal is to create awareness for the many jobs available in our industry, and help fill the employee gap and to build marine education programs in Michigan.”
Since its inception in 1986, RBIEF has distributed $354,396 to deserving students and MBIA members for standard college or continuing education efforts in the recreational marine trades. The Gregory P. Krueger Scholarship started in 2016 in memory of one of RBIEF’s founding directors.
