The Michigan Boating Industries Association (MBIA) is heading to the nation’s capital this May in order to educate members of Congress about the recreational boating industry. MBIA has decided to join the National Marine Manufacturers Association to co-host this American Boating Congress (ABC).
“ABC is a very effective event that brings the recreational boating industry together to highlight the importance of this multi-billion industry, that is also a great American pastime,” says MBIA Executive Director Nicki Polan in a press release. “As a co-host, and with our mission as an Association, to protect and promote the industry, we have a responsibility to ensure legislators do what is best for boating with legislation that protects our businesses, waters and
The ABC will take place May 9 to 11 in Washington, D.C. Boating industry leaders hope to discuss a number of issues Midwestern boaters will already be familiar with, such as ensuring ethanol-free fuel for boaters, fighting invasive species such as Asian carp, curbing algal blooms, and preventing a nuclear waste depository along Lake Huron by Ontario Power Generation, among other topics.
