The Melges 24 North American Championship will sail into Traverse City, Michigan, on August 15-18. The Grand Traverse Yacht Club (GTYC) will host the event, welcoming competitors from around the world. The races, three or four per day, are on a course about four miles along the West Grand Traverse Bay.
The sailboats, designed for racing by Melges Performance Sailboats in Wisconsin, have been in production since 1994. The GTYC has 14 of the boats in-house, which is one of the largest Melges 24 sailboat fleets in the U.S.
