Mercury Unveils New Outboards, Sterndrive

By August 12, 2014No Comments

Mercury Marine unveiled its all-new 75, 90 and 115 hp four stroke outboards at a mid-June media event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The engines deliver all the reliable power Mercury is known for while also offering significant weight reduction; they are 20 pounds lighter than their closest four stroke competitors.

In addition to its new four stroke outboards, Mercury also launched the MerCruiser 4.5L 250 hp sterndrive unit: The first-ever Mercury sterndrive that is designed and manufactured from the ground up — including the engine block — in Mercury’s Fond du Lac, Wisconsin facility. The V-6 MerCruiser sterndrive weighs 130 pounds less than a 5.0L V-8 small block, but offers equal performance. The sterndrive is compatible with SmartCraft DTS, offers Adaptive Speed Control, is available in single or twin installations, and is compatible with Mercury’s full series of Alpha and Bravo drives.
