By March 30, 2017No Comments

Fans of the stoic author Ernest Hemingway will have a chance to learn more about the author’s connection to northern Michigan through Hotel Walloon’s second annual “The Last Good Country: Walloon Lake,” a three-day, two-night event in Walloon Lake, Michigan.

“Spring is the perfect time to explore the area in and around Walloon Lake, where Ernest Hemingway once paddled and walked,” said Amanda Bond, sales & marketing manager at Hotel Walloon. “We hope to educate and entertain both dedicated Hemingway fans as well as those who have yet to discover this award-winning author’s works and the area which inspired him.

The literary celebration begins on Friday, April 28 with a meet-and-greet with Valerie Hemingway, the famous author’s personal assistant and daughter-in-law. Valerie Hemingway is also the author of “Running with Bulls,” a memoir of her time with the late author. Events continue the next day with two guided tours — by land and sea — of some of Hemingway’s favorite haunts in northern Michigan, followed by “Nick Adams” Feast at the Walloon Lake Inn. The weekend wraps up on Sunday, April 30 with a “Sun Also Rises” breakfast and fly fishing demonstration.

Packages for the event includes two nights’ double-occupancy accommodations, tours and event meals. Packages start at $1046. $10 per couple. To book a reservation, visit HotelWalloon.com.
