Maritime historian and underwater explorer Valerie van Heest will present “History of the Great Lakes in 12 Shipwrecks” as part of the Michigan Maritime Museum’s lecture series on Wednesday, February 25 at 6:30pm. The event will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States by exploring one dozen shipwrecks that offer a history of the Great Lakes and the nation.
The multimedia lecture will depict the events that led to the founding of America, changes to the landscape of North America, and how the shipping industry evolved over two and half centuries, and is sponsored by the Nielsen-Wells Grant Fund and Mike and Susan Smith.
