On October 2, a large marker spanning almost 10 feet will be installed in the Michigan Upper Peninsula community of Naubinway, marking the Northernmost Point of Lake Michigan.

The Top of the Lake Community Association (TOLCA) will dedicate the sculptural marker at Garfield Township Marina in Naubinway in recognition of this point of pride and Naubinway’s long history as a fishing village. Located just off US-2 and only 45 minutes west of St. Ignace, the location is an easy stop for tourists or even paddlers and boaters wishing to view the Michigan-shaped marker and spot.

The marker was fabricated locally, supported by grants from Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Graymont Community and Economic Fund, and donations from Cloverland Electric Cooperative, businesses and individuals.

Additional funds are still needed, and current and past residents as well as visitors, businesses and other organizations can be part of this great project by donating to help complete the marking of the Northernmost Point of Lake Michigan.

Contributions of any amount are welcome at gofundme.com/f/northernmost-point-of-lake-michigan or by check to TOLCA, PO Box 132, Naubinway, MI 49762. Donors of $100 or more will be recognized at the TOLCA website, topofthelake.org
