Two of the most prominent Great Lakes in-water boat shows, the Progressive Insurance Michigan City In-Water Boat Show, and the North American Demo Boat Show at Cedar Point have both changed dates this summer.

Michigan City, the regions longest-running in-water show, will take place two weeks earlier this year, August 7-10. The show features more than 100 of the latest jet boats, pontoons and cabin cruisers.

The Cedar Point show is likewise getting a date makeover. Running for more than 40 years in the month of September, the show is getting pushed up a month in 2014 and will be held August 21-24.

“We recognize we’re messing with a long-standing tradition, but we’re convinced new directions, starting with the dramatic date change, will prove popular with exhibitors and visitors alike,” says Lake Erie Marine Trades Association president Ken Alvey.
