New Photography Book Captures Great Lakes Ships

By April 5, 2016No Comments

There’s a new photography book on the market for anyone intrigued by the large ships roaming the Great Lakes. “Classic Ships of the Great Lakes” is by Robert B. Campbell, whose photos have been published in the Michigan History Magazine and other publications.

This 224-page book is divided up into chapters, with short historical accounts preceding each photo. Campbell includes pictures of passenger ships, steamers, whalebacks, bulk carriers, self-unloaders and cement carriers. You can also catch a glimpse of the Edmund Fitzgerald, a freighter whose sinking was made famous through Gordon Lightfoot’s hit song, “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.”

Campbell also includes the locations for select museum ships throughout the Great Lakes so readers can check them out for themselves. The book is available for $24.95 through Thunder Bay Press.
