Fishing is available year-round in Ohio, but before you head out for the waterways, make sure you’re up to date on the latest rules and regulations. The Ohio Department of Natural Resources just released updates for the new 2021-22 fishing regulations that are effective now through February 28 of next year.
Most of the previous regulations remain the same, except for a few exceptions, reports the Akron Beacon Journal. Special regulations for walleye, sauger and saugeye in the Sandusky River and Sandusky Bay have been removed; statewide channel catfish regulations at lakes less than 700 acres have been removed, and the Lake Erie Charter Fishing License is no longer available. Instead, a one-day license is valid to fish all public waters, which includes Lake Erie.
Free fishing days this year will be June 20 and 21, so get your rods and reels ready. For the regulations booklet and license information, visit ohiodnr.gov.
