Nimbus Weekender 9

If you are looking for a sensible dayboat/weekender, the Nimbus Weekender 9 (W9) should be on your radar screen.

With levelheaded Scandinavian design and the kind of robust construction you would expect from this part of the world that is intrinsically tied to the ocean, the only surprise is how well this builder has handled putting all it has supplied into a 30-footer.

“With amenities like the fully equipped outdoor galley and overnight accommodation for up to four people, you can extend your trip and stay on the water longer,” says Jane Moede, marketing manager for Nimbus. “She is meticulously designed with function and safety in mind so that whether you’re cruising the ocean or the lakes, she is just as comfortable.”

Starting at the helm, with space for a pair of 12-inch screens, Nimbus has taken full advantage of all existing areas to achieve her potential. Across from the helm to starboard is a wetbar with a 65-liter refrigerator. Just aft is an L-shape lounge, which can fold down to create a large sunpad, and is centered by a table, transforming the cockpit into a dinette.

The designers have provided the W9 with a long, sharp-entry hull, combined with a low center of gravity to produce surprisingly capable handling. The Sidewalk design provides safe transit fore and aft, a double bed and separate head are in the fore cabin, and she is available in T-top, Bimini, canopy and full canopy configurations. At the bow is a spacious sunpad for soaking up the sun. The W9 can be outfitted with either an inboard or outboard engine.
