The annual 2022 report on total boat registrations from NMMA, part of the 2022 U.S. Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, is now available for download. Total boats registered and documented in the U.S. in 2022 numbered 11.9 million — slightly lower than in 2021.
The top five states for registered boats were Florida, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and California, with the Great Lakes region accounting for 34.1% of all state boat registration, followed by the South Atlantic at 17.7% and Gulf Coast at 10.6%. Of all boats registered, 91.7% were powerboats and a whopping 95% were under 26 feet in length.
