NOOD Regatta Returns to Chicago

By May 23, 2017No Comments

Chicago will be kicking off the sailing season this June with the Helly Hansen National Offshore One Design Regatta series (NOOD). Chicago is the fourth stop for the NOOD Regatta series — the largest national sailboat racing circuit in the U.S.

The regatta will take place over the course of three days, from June 9 to 11. The event features one-design racing, meaning teams compete in races against identical boats. More than 80 teams have already registered for the event, which is considered the unofficial kick-off of sailing season in the city. Organizers are expecting hundreds of local and visiting sailors to participate for individual trophies as well as the top prize — the opportunity to race in the Helly Hansen NOOD Caribbean Championships Regatta in October, which takes place in the British Virgin Islands.

The event is being hosted by the Chicago Yacht Club. Boaters are invited to cruise out and along the racecourse to watch.
