Ohio Sea Grant Holds Algae Conference In September

Keep up to date on one of the biggest environmental threats to the Great Lakes by attending Understanding Algal Blooms: State of Science Conference sponsored by the Ohio Sea Grant. The conference will take place on September 15 at Ohio State University in Toledo, Ohio.

This one-day conference will bring together researchers and outreach leaders from regional agencies and institutions. Presentations will cover recent scientific findings and knowledge on algal blooms, including model predictions, best management practices and water treatment methods. Specifically, attendees can expect to learn more about highlights from recent modeling studies, the latest field results, the monitoring of algal blooms in Lake Erie, and water treatment methods to reduce cyanobacteria.

Organizers expect audience members to come largely from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. Registration is open to the public at $20 per person, and admission is free for students.
