After years of deterioration caused by waves and ice, two seawalls at Put-in-Bay, Ohio’s Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial have seen better days, but come 2023, they will be like-new. The National Park Service has awarded a construction contract for the restoration of the seawalls to begin in the spring of 2022, with an expected completion date of the end of 2023. ES Wagner Company of Oregon, Ohio will complete the restoration of 3,340 linear feet of seawalls.
Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial was established to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lake Erie, during the War of 1812, and to celebrate the long-lasting peace among Great Britain, Canada and the U.S. The Memorial, a Doric column, rises 352 feet over Lake Erie.
