Petoskey Area Summer Events!

By June 3, 2016No Comments

The Petoskey area of northern Michigan is a boater’s delight with municipal and locally-owned marinas throughout the area. However, what really makes the Petoskey area so special is all there is to do in the communities once you’ve docked. You’ll find dozens of specialty boutiques; Victorian charm (Bay View has been designated a National Historic Landmark); nationally rated golf courses; dining from casual to gourmet; and countless other activities.

Petoskey is known for its beautiful setting along Little Traverse Bay and its charming Gaslight Shopping District. The elegant Victorian architecture found in its homes and buildings serves as a reminder of its long history as a summertime destination.

Harbor Springs is a place where time slows down, inviting you to enjoy everything from swimming, dining, shopping and biking. The picture-perfect downtown is great for relaxing and watching boats in the harbor. The famous Tunnel of Trees always delights.

Boyne City wraps around Lake Charlevoix — voted second best lake in America by the readers of <<ITAL>>USA Today. There are no strip malls here, just a great mix of independently owned shops and restaurants where you’re likely to be personally greeted by the owner.

Bay Harbor is a luxury community with spectacular views and five-star amenities. Bordered by 5 miles of Little Traverse Bay shoreline, it features upscale shopping and dining, a deep-water marina and the award-winning Bay Harbor Golf Club.

Here are some of this season’s boating events that make this area a Michigan treasure.
• June 17-19: Bay Harbor In-Water Boat Show — Pleasure boats to mega-yachts and everything in between.
• June 25: Bay Harbor Vintage Car and Boat Festival — Visitors from across the Midwest come to see this elegant gathering of vintage cars and motor boats.
• July 8-9: Boyne Thunder Poker Run in Boyne City — High performance boats slice through the waters of Lake Charlevoix and Lake Michigan on a breathtaking 150-mile excursion.
• July 28-31: Little Traverse Yacht Club Ugotta Regatta in Harbor Springs — The series begins with one design racing on Thursday and Friday, followed by tour-of-the-bay courses on Saturday and Sunday.

• September 2-4: Red Fox Regatta in Boyne City — A three-day event starting with the NuCore Triangle race on Friday evening, ending with a two-day race from the top of Lake Charlevoix on Saturday, and back again on Sunday afternoon.
