This April, Premier Marine president Lori Melbostad was honored at the 4th Annual Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Awards as one of the top women in U.S. manufacturing in 2016. Melbostad and fellow honorees were recognized for their impact in mentoring, advocacy, engagement and leadership. Women in all levels of the manufacturing industry can be considered for this award. The larger STEP Ahead initiative aims to celebrate women in the industry and fight the employment gap of women in manufacturing; although women make up approximately 47 percent of the labor force, they only constitute 27 percent of the manufacturing workplace.
