A fresh take on the classic center console.
by Craig Ritchie
The latest model in Pursuit’s growing Sport family, the all-new S 288 packs a lot of boat into its trim, 30-foot length.
Standard features, like a fully integrated fiberglass hardtop and windshield system, innovative cockpit seating, spacious head compartment and a state-of-the-art helm provide greater occupant comfort and convenience while contributing to the S 288’s fresh, modern appeal.
Spacious twin lounge seats in the bow offer the perfect place to stretch out and enjoy the summer sun, while insulated storage spaces concealed in the seat bases accommodate gear with ease. An adjacent forward-facing seat for two on the front of the console features fold-down armrests for added comfort.
The stylish console conceals a roomy, fully enclosed head compartment, complete with a vacuum-flush marine toilet, a designer sink with Corian countertop, a freshwater faucet, a vanity mirror and a stainless steel opening porthole.
The helm station provides plenty of space for large MFDs, as well as the control head for the stereo and a stainless steel steering wheel with a turning knob. Overhead, the fiberglass hardtop includes stereo speakers, spreader lights, powder-coated grabrails and dedicated mounting locations for radar, spotlights and other accessories.
The anglers in the family will gravitate toward the wide- open aft cockpit with its 24-gallon livewell, large in-floor fish boxes and plenty of storage space for rods, lures and everything else. Fold-away transom and aft-facing seats convert the cockpit from a fishing paradise into a comfortable entertaining space, while a standard side door makes it easy to board the cockpit from the water after a swim.
“We are excited to debut our newest Sport series model,” says Pursuit Boats President Bruce Thompson. “We take pride in continuing to remain true to our history of innovative luxury fishing boats while providing our customers with the state-of-the-art features, quality and comfort that they have come to expect from Pursuit.”
Standard power for the S 288 is twin Yamaha F300 outboards, which allow it to cruise at just over 30 mph while turning only 3500 rpm for excellent fuel economy. Or pin the throttles to 55 mph and get there fast.
