Organizers for the Water Warriors event — which will take place July 29 to August 2 — are hoping for at least 12 more participants to travel the length of Lake Huron and the St. Clair River to raise money for Special Olympics Michigan. The goal is to reach $150,000, and the more riders, the easier reaching that goal becomes. The full event price is $1,500, but you can also participate in day one for $500 or travel from one stop to another for $100.
Riders raise awareness for Special Olympics Michigan at every stop along the five-day journey. The 450-mile route starts in Mackinaw City and ends in Algonac. Personal watercraft are required and riders must be 18 years or older. Volunteers to support the riders and land crew are also needed.
