The historic 1952 Great Lakes car ferry S.S. Badger — which travels between Ludington, Michigan, and Manitowoc, Wisconsin — has been purchased by Interlake Holding Co. The Badger is the nation’s last coal-fired passenger steamship in operation. Interlake operates nine Great Lakes freighters and is building the first new U.S. lake freighter in nearly four decades.
