Classic styling and modern amenities make for comfortable cruising.

By Craig Ritchie

Sabre Yachts has developed a loyal Great Lakes following and with good reason: Its full line of luxurious, capable cruisers neatly blend classic Downeast styling with modern amenities and advanced performance.

One of the most intriguing models in the lineup is the all-new 45 Salon Express.

“The Sabre 45 was launched in January 2017 and instantly became a popular choice for Great Lakes boaters,” says Bentley Collins, VP of marketing and sales for Sabre and Back Cove Yachts. “The beautiful cruising grounds of the Great Lakes are ideal for a luxurious boat like the Sabre 45, with her large windows that surround the entire main salon.”
Those windows provide magnificent 360-degree views, while a powered drop window on the aft bulkhead opens the boat up to let the fresh air flow through. The salon features an L-shaped settee to starboard and a straight settee to port, both facing an attractive TV cabinet with the screen on a power lift. There’s an audiophile Fusion black box stereo system with four speakers and remote controls at both the helm and cockpit.
The spacious galley offers a solid surface countertop, a stainless steel undermount sink with cover and a pull-out faucet. There’s also a stainless steel two-drawer refrigerator, a stainless single-drawer freezer, a two-burner induction cooktop and a convection microwave.
Twin Stidd N-Series seats with Ultraleather fabric face a helm console with dual Volvo/Garmin 17-inch glass bridge displays, a Volvo/Garmin autopilot display, joystick steering on the helm armrest and triple windshield wipers with multiple speed settings. A starboard-side swing door allowing direct deck access is a thoughtful standard feature. Options include luxuries like a Seakeeper 6 gyro stabilizer, a FreedomLift tender lift, a power sunroof, a central vacuum system and a washer/dryer for convenience.
The master stateroom has an island berth, a large cedar-lined closet to starboard, a large bureau to port and a spacious, private ensuite complete with a separate shower stall. The guest stateroom offers a comfortable double berth that converts into separate twin berths. Ensuite access to the day head, which also features a separate shower stall, is yet another nice touch.
