Saugatuck Celebrates St. Patrick’s and Pets

By February 16, 2016No Comments

In Saugatuck, St. Patrick’s Day is a holiday for everyone to celebrate — even pets. At 2 p.m. on March 12, the Saugatuck/Douglas Convention & Visitors Bureau is sponsoring the “Erin Go Bark! People and their Pets” Parade in downtown Saugatuck. Participants are encouraged to “express their Irish side,” with the chance to win prizes for best-dressed pets. Pets and owners should line up for the parade at 1:30 p.m. next to the Saugatuck Center for the Arts.

Immediately following the parade is the 10th Annual Saugatuck/Douglas Pub Crawl. With eight participating restaurants and bars, plus an after-party at the Coral Gables Crow Bar, the pub crawl is sure to keep the celebration going well into the evening. Tickets are $5, and include a t-shirt.

If you need some time to refuel, there will be two dining options on St. Patrick’s Day as well. From 8:30-10:30 a.m., the Saugatuck Brewing Company will serve a traditional Irish Breakfast Buffet. Tickets are $17 for adults and $8 for children. If you’d rather sleep in, that evening you can head over to the Belvedere Country Inn and Restaurant for an authentic Irish Dinner, prepared by a native Irish chef. There will be two seating times; one at 6 p.m. and one at 8 p.m.
