Set the date for the Saugatuck Venetian Festival which will take place July 28-29 in Saugatuck, Michigan. This year’s event theme is “The 60s.”
The event, organized by the Cowhill Yacht Club, raises money for the less fortunate in the Saugatuck/Douglas communities. A kickoff concert celebration on July 18 will open the festival. Friday, July 27, will feature Children’s Games and a performance by Starfarm.
The Dinghy Poker Runs is held Saturday, July 28, in which boaters stop at points along the Kalamazoo River hoping to secure the perfect poker hand. Many of the boaters wear costumes and squirt each other with water guns during the event. Later on, the ’60s-themed boat parade will begin at 9:15 p.m., followed by a fireworks show over Kalamazoo Lake.
