Saugatuck Venetian Festival Will Honor Military

By July 7, 2017No Comments

Organizers for the annual Saugatuck Venetian Festival have announced this year’s theme: Salute to our Military. The festival is scheduled to run from Friday evening, July 28 through Saturday night, July 29.

The festival will involve a number of events and activities for all ages. Friday night will kick off with Children’s Games at the gazebo in Coghlin Park, followed by the Rock N Roll Invasion bash. On Saturday, there will be the usual quirky Dinghy Poker Run, as well as the highlight of the festival, the Salute to our Military-themed lighted boat parade along the Kalamazoo River and Kalamazoo Lake. Fireworks will follow the parade of boats.

“In addition to everyone having a great time, attendees are helping to raise money for those in need in the local area,” says Mike Applegate, commodore of the Cow Hill Yacht Club, the festival’s non-profit sponsor. “All proceeds above expenses go to help local families and individuals facing hard times to get back on their feet.
