Sea-Doo Promotes Water Safety with Five Personal Watercraft Safety Tips

By July 8, 2024No Comments

As we enter the peak of boating season, with more people enjoying time on the water — NMMA estimates 100 million people will go boating in the U.S. this season — Sea-Doo is helping to keep waterways safe with five personal watercraft safety tips.

“As a leader in the personal watercraft industry, we have a responsibility to grow the community of responsible riders, educate our community on preserving our water playgrounds and generate positive experiences. Every action and initiative we take at Sea-Doo is to ensure our sport flourishes today and for future generations of riders,” says Jérémi Doyon-Roch, global marketing director of marine at BRP. “Holidays are a great time to be out on the water with your friends and family and it is our responsibility to help ensure riders know how to safely enjoy the water and, most importantly, return to the dock or shore to do it all over again the following day.”

Sea-Doo is committed to sharing BRP’s Responsible Rider Program that encourages riders to be present and consider safety, etiquette and environment in all situations. Here are the top five rules to help keep riders and others safe.

  1. Wear Coast Guard-approved, proper-fitting safety gear designed for PWC use, including neoprene shorts.
  2. Attach safety lanyard to your life jacket or wrist with a wrist strap before starting the engine.
  3. Maintain a safe distance at all times, from other vessels and anything in the water, including swimmers.
  4. Observe posted speed regulations, including slow speed and no-wake zones.
  5. Familiarize yourself with your watercraft’s braking system, many now offer some type of slowing system for making quick, emergency stops.
