Sea Grant has come a long way since it began in March 1966. In honor of its achievements so far, the organization has launched a yearlong celebratory campaign looking back at five decades of successful scientific work, environmental awareness and local engagement in costal communities. With a different theme each month, Sea Grant will share success stories from their work via web, social media, print outlets, presentations and special events. Monthly themes include: Climate, healthy coastal habitats, sustainable development, coastal tourism, “k to gray” education, aquaculture and fisheries, and more. Sea Grant hopes these stories will inspire further research, partnerships and community involvement. Follow the campaign online through #SeaGrant50.
